Your Skin Is Always Changing

Most people believe they have a fixed skin type.

In reality, your skin constantly changes depending on stress, hormones, climate, diet, and sun exposure.

That’s why K2C focuses on skin states — not skin types like dry, oily, acne etc.

Because in real life:

oily skin can be dehydrated
acne skin can be barrier-damaged
dark skin can be sensitive and pigmented
aging skin can still break out

✔ Skin states allow movement
✔ Skin types trap people

Understanding your current skin state is the first step to choosing the correct skincare system.

what is a skin state?

A skin state describes what your skin is experiencing right now.Your skin might be calm and balanced today, but next month it could be sensitive, dehydrated, or breaking out.

Instead of forcing your skin into a fixed category, the K2C system identifies your current skin condition and recommends the right routine.

Forget age for a moment. Across all humans, almost every skin fits into one of these 6 core states:

1. Barrier-Damaged / Sensitive Skin

2. Breakout-Prone Skin

3. Pigmentation & Uneven Tone

4. Dehydrated / Dull Skin

5. Ageing / Loss of Elasticity

6. Balanced / Maintenance Skin

1. Barrier-Damaged / Sensitive Skin

Your skin may feel:

Red
• Irritated
• Tight or reactive
• Sensitive to many products

This happens when the skin barrier is weakened, allowing moisture to escape and irritants to enter.

Recommended System:

2. Breakout-Prone Skin. Inflamed Acne

Your skin may experience:

Frequent pimples
• Congestion
• Inflammation
• Post-acne redness

Breakouts often occur when oil production, bacteria, and inflammation become unbalanced.

Recommended System:

3. Pigmentation & Uneven Tone

Your skin may show:

Dark spots
• Sun damage
• Uneven tone
• Melasma or post-inflammatory marks

Pigmentation is often accelerated by UV exposure, which is particularly strong in South Africa.

Very important (SA-specific):

This skin must never be rushed into strong actives.

Rule:

Barrier + sun protection before pigment correction.

Recommended System:

4. Dehydrated / Dull Skin

Water deficiency within the skin causes compensatory oil production, congestion, and uneven texture.

Your skin may feel:

Tight
• Dry but oily at the same time
• Rough or dull
• Lacking glow

This is not true oily skin — it is hydration failure.

Rule:

Oil control comes after hydration is restored.

This usually means the skin needs deep hydration and barrier support.

Recommended System:

(Reason: Dehydrated skin is usually a barrier problem first, so hydration and barrier repair come before optimisation.)

5. Ageing / Loss of Elasticity

Signs may include:

• Fine lines
• Reduced firmness
• Loss of radiance
• Slower skin renewal

This state benefits from repair-focused ingredients and collagen-supporting routines.

Recommended Kit:

reason:
once the barrier is stable, this system supports long-term skin optimisation and renewal.

• Even in tone
• Stable
